Hi-lift jack 48″ (120 cm)

A 120 cm cast and pressed-steel farm jack – the most versatile single tool in off-road recovery. Beyond lifting, it works as a hand winch, a spreader and a clamp, which is why it stays on the roof rack long after a bottle jack would have been left at home. The long beam gives the reach needed to lift a lifted vehicle on oversized tyres clear of a rut.

Safety – read before use

A farm jack is genuinely dangerous if used carelessly. The handle can kick back hard enough to break a jaw, so keep it under control and never stand in its arc. The jack is tall and unstable under load: never put any part of your body under a vehicle supported only by a hi-lift, always chock the wheels, and use axle stands before working underneath. Lift only from a solid, rated recovery point.

Care

Keep the climbing pins and the beam clean and lightly oiled. Grit in the mechanism is the usual cause of a jack that slips or jams under load.
